A ten-mile commute by bicycle requires 350 calories of energy, the amount in one bowl of rice. The same trip in the average American car uses 18,600 calories, or more than half a gallon of gasoline.

Safe Routes to School

E-mail Print PDF

logoThe Bicycles have Arrived!  Helmets, too.  Bike ED is coming to a school near you!

The Bicycle Coalition of the Ozarks has been awarded a Safe Routes to School Education grant from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department.  We are using this money to move our Bicycle Ed curriculum into Fayetteville's nine public elementary schools.

If you would like to see Bicycle Education in your child's school, and you live outside the Fayetteville Public School District, consider supporting the BCO as we work to expand our Kid's Education Program into all of NW Arkansas and eventually the entire State.
